My ideal school counseling office will be warm, inviting, and comfortable. In my personal family, sitting in a living room type space and relaxing and drinking coffee is many times how we get our quality time with each other. In my office, it is important to me that my students build a relationship with me that is similar to having quality time. I do not want my office to be a big and intimidating. I will have comfy furniture, real plants around the room such as ferns or palm trees (larger than the ones in the virtual office!), beautiful pictures of scenery, and then a bulletin board designated for important things that students want to share with me such as pictures, drawings, newspaper clips, etc. Hopefully, my office can have a window or windows; real light opposed to florescent light is more inviting in my opinion. There will be a comfy section where I can build relationships and establish positive connects with students and then my desk will fit my personality, as it is where I will be doing a majority of my work when I'm alone.
